I think it's a non-issue anyway since W8.1. I frankly did a lot of reading a while ago but can't find any current validation that it helps.*If you want to really see if there's the slightest chance it might matter then set your POWER OPTIONS so that the CPU doesn't drop. Just set the MINIMUM to 100%.Go back to Task Manager, and the CPU should be staying at about roughly 3.15GHz even in IDLE I would guess though it will still toggle a bit (Max Turbo minus 200MHz or so depending on CPU load). Then you've disabled most power management and the CPU's are permanently unparked. TEST. Did it help? If not, just set... I think most of the UNPARK is probably BS but there were a few places it helped as I said, and again if you have W8/W10 it may be a non-issue anyway. Even with Windows 7, the newer CPU and Intel drivers may be avoiding the issue.) Advertising Cookies Policies Privacy Term & Conditions TopicsComments

2025-03-28Will unparking cores on an i7 4790k decrease the CPU's lifespan? Thread starter Thread starter tsuki2000 Start date Start date May 10, 2015 You are using an out of date browser. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. #1 At least to a noticeable extent?I've hear unparking can yield FPS increases and reduce stuttering in games like BF4. The CPU isn't overclocked. I i7Baby May 10, 2015 No. They shouldn't be parked anyway. The CPU itself will downclock cores dependent on the load on it. Jul 25, 2012 44,080 2 106,960 #2 No. They shouldn't be parked anyway. The CPU itself will downclock cores dependent on the load on it. #3 No. They shouldn't be parked anyway. The CPU itself will downclock cores dependent on the load on it. So even if Windows is set to unpark cores, the CPU will still downclock them when not in use? Jul 25, 2012 44,080 2 106,960 #4 Yes.If use use Sensors from HWInfo and look at your core speeds you'll see they are up and down all the time at idle. Jun 16, 2014 2,116 1 6,460 #5 You can disable it in the bios however. The C-states are what you're looking for. Enabled, they turn down the cpu's multiplier and voltage when idle, to reduce power draw and heat emission. Disabled, that won't happen and you'll sit at 4.4ghz all the time. Not sure why you would want higher power consumption and a louder cooler by gaining nothing and potentially decreasing your cpus life span (maybe 30 instead of 32 years). There's nothing such as core parking for intel cpus anyway. You probably heard of it in amd fx related discussions. #6 Practically speaking on an i7, we don't need to play around with regedit, instead its better to overclock a cpu with a nice cooler on topand switch to high performance power mode. Will this work? Or should we try something else? Advertising Cookies Policies Privacy Term & Conditions Topics
