Even despite the brutality that the Seven often display, the Boys themselves tend to retain their moral grounding, while the comics delve into horrific brutality. Related Is The Boys' New Vought Prequel Based On The Comics? The Boys' upcoming prequel show will show the earliest stages yet of Vought International's history, but may not be as faithful to the comics. Crossed is a far darker comic than even the original inspiration for Homelander's harrowing crusade. It regularly features torture, assault, extensive gore, cannibalism, and all manner of other dark elements. While taking inspiration from the trope of zombie apocalypses, every character retains their intelligence and personal will, which leads to terrifying displays of cruelty. Even as a comic series, the deaths are shocking, but a feature-length movie portraying the horror could prove to be an exceptionally gory adaptation. Ennis is known for his shocking and graphic work, but Crossed will be far more violent than even his previous adaptations. Considering that Ennis will be serving as screenwriter, it should retain many of the gruesome elements that made the comic infamous. Yet, while it could be a painful and shocking work, Six Studios promises a grounded story about individuals suffering during a monstrous pandemic. Focusing on the human element of Crossed's story could create a vibrant, if tragic, atmosphere that might reflect The Walking Dead or A Quiet Place: Day One. The movie may struggle to retain interest without The Boys' biting satire, but the bloody fare could still bring in a strong audience with interest in the horror genre. The Boys Sign in to your ScreenRant account Image Created by Lukas Shayo Summary The Boys creator, Garth Ennis, has more exciting content coming after season 5 wraps up. Ennis is joining forces with Six Studios to adapt his comic series, Crossed, for the screen. Ennis' new project will explore regular people succumbing to their darkest desires in a global catastrophe. While The Boys is coming to an end, its original creator has more content on the way with Crossed. Brought to the screen by Eric Kripke, Prime Video's hit show is based on Garth Ennis' comic series by the same name, and explores the reality of a world filled with superheroes with grounded stakes, abject horror, and characters lacking any semblance of morality. The Boys season 5 will bring the show to an end, but Ennis has been writing comics for decades and has more in store for audiences. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Ennis has agreed to work with the Six Studios production company to develop a feature-length adaptation of Crossed. The comic tells the story of an infection that forces victims to give in to their worst desires, often leading to devastating global catastrophes. Six Studios promises a faithful adaptation, and Ennis has agreed to serve as screenwriter. Crossed Will Build On The Boys' Success A Faithful Adaptation Could Be Controversial Since The Boys has proven to be a massive hit, it is only natural that studios would hope to adapt Ennis' other works. Unfortunately, a faithful adaptation of Crossed could be a difficult prospect, given that Homelander and the Seven are not perfectly adapted from the comics. Much of the gore and shock elements from the original comic series were toned down for the show to make it palatable to a wider audience.. Most exciting movie and TV show announcements from the long-awaited expo. A panel focused on The Boys kicked off SDCC 2024's Friday, with it featuring some major reveals, such as the first Gen V season 2 trailer, the reveal that Soldier Boy will be a recurring character in The Boys season 5, and the announcement of Vought Rising. Soldier Boy and Stormfront are the only characters confirmed to return so far, but it would make sense for these 10 characters to appear in the 1950s setting. Related Every Movie & TV Show Trailer From SDCC 2024 The Transformers One trailer rolled out ahead of the pack at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con — but a bunch of other first-look trailers are on the way. 10 Crimson Countess Appears In The Boys Show One of the most obvious supes who could appear in Vought Rising is the former Vought superstar, Crimson Countess. Crimson Countess is a former Payback member who played a major role in The Boys season 3, with her being one of the supes who Soldier Boy tracked down and killed due to her role in Vought's betrayal of Soldier Boy. Crimson Countess' age in The Boys season 3 is unknown, but based on the lore of the franchise, she is one of the few characters in the show who could have been active in the late 1950s. Crimson Countess had movies made about her superheroics all the way back in the 1960s, meaning that she was probably active
