Crossed is a far darker comic than even the original inspiration for Homelander's harrowing crusade. It regularly features torture, assault, extensive gore, cannibalism, and all manner of other dark elements. While taking inspiration from the trope of zombie apocalypses, every character retains their intelligence and personal will, which leads to terrifying displays of cruelty. Even as a comic series, the deaths are shocking, but a feature-length movie portraying the horror could prove to be an exceptionally gory adaptation. Ennis is known for his shocking and graphic work, but Crossed will be far more violent than even his previous adaptations. Considering that Ennis will be serving as screenwriter, it should retain many of the gruesome elements that made the comic infamous. Yet, while it could be a painful and shocking work, Six Studios promises a grounded story about individuals suffering during a monstrous pandemic. Focusing on the human element of Crossed's story could create a vibrant, if tragic, atmosphere that might reflect The Walking Dead or A Quiet Place: Day One. Amazon has announced that it be hosting four panels at the virtual San Diego Comic Con, which will also streamed on the newly launched Amazon Virtual-Con portal. Brought to the screen by Eric Kripke, Prime Video's hit show is based on Garth Ennis' comic series by the same name, and explores the reality of a world filled with superheroes with grounded stakes, abject horror, and characters lacking any semblance of morality. The Boys season 5 will bring the show to an end, but Ennis has been writing comics for decades and has more in store for audiences. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Ennis has agreed to work with the Six Studios production company to develop a feature-length adaptation of Crossed. The comic tells the story of an infection that forces victims to give in to their worst desires, often leading to devastating global catastrophes. Six Studios promises a faithful adaptation, and Ennis has agreed to serve as screenwriter.
