Close all the way and did not contribute to the sound as far as I could tell. With them in place HP did not open fully as well. I might have found some other way of doing this and leaving them in but since they were more trouble than anything else I decided to remove them. I am not sure about that but they might have been there just to stop the filter from reaching the resonance peak that is present when the filter starts to open up. I dealt with this problem in a different way. The filter in 80V also does not close fully but I wanted mine to do that. It seems to me the original CS had some limitations in place as well. It does not give control of the full range of resonance which to me makes sense. What I was doing wrong before was that I tried to push the resonance as far as possible. This led to it kind of going into overdrive that I originally tried to contain with Zener diodes and made it sound differently than CS did. So I lowered the max resonance. Now at these levels the resonance is more manageable and filter overall sounds more pleasant and softer. More like CS80. If you start to push it beyond this point you can start to hear resonance “wobbling” and as you push it more it rises that initial resonance peak and if there is nothing to suppress it it starts to distort more and more. Looking at Arturias CS80 it seems that resonance there goes exactly to the same level. I changed the resonance suppression circuit so that it slightly reduces resonance when the filter is starting to open up. After that it does nothing. This helps with that resonance peak when the filter starts to open up. All it does basically is smooth out the initial rise of resonance without affecting the shape of it. This peak was the reason for the Zener diodes and suppression circuit that I posted before. The new way in my opinion is better since it affects only a small part of the circuit and in a subtle way whereas before it affected everything above a certain threshold. And I did it this way because this way it seems to sound closer to CS-80V.Here are sound examples, there is LP, HP and BP at full resonance: VCF.mp3 (463.64 KiB) Downloaded 25 times And updated schematic: John Learning to Wiggle Posts: 36 Joined: Sun Sep 10, 2023 8:29 am Re: CS80 VCF Post by John » Fri Jan 26, 2024 6:19 am If someone is interested I have this filter for sale on Reverb_ Resonance of the Ocean _
Sync left and right hemispheres with this binaural beat tuned to the Earth energy of the Schumann Resonance. For those who prefer a pure binaural beat, this is a pure tone with no added instruments or sound effects. Try it out and let me know what you think! -Nicholas Binaural Beat Details: Tuned to B 62.64 hz Left Ear = 58.725 hz Right Ear = 66.555 hzWhat is the Schumann Resonance? The Schumann Resonance is an Earth frequency that all living creatures are constantly connected to, even if we are not aware of it. It's a series of low frequencies (7.83 hz is the most common avg. frequency) that is below the threshold of audible sounds, but can be heard as a rhythm. The 7.83 hz is essentially the rhythm of the wobble that you hear in this binaural beat. The Schumann Resonance is generated between the Earths surface and the ionosphere, and is activated when lightning strikes. The lightning sort of resembles someone hitting a drum, and it's the resonant space between the Earths surface and Ionosphere that is the acoustic space being vibrated. Since we live between the surface of the Earth and ionosphere, we are basically swimming in this frequency all the time without realizing it.When people do not get enough exposure to the Schumann Resonance (ie, an astronaut in space) we can become sick. It's an important frequency for maintaining our health and in the form of binaural beats can improve focus and awareness. Alpha WavesThe Schumann resonance. Middle C, for example, would sound richer played on an open tube, because it has even multiples of the fundamental as well as odd. A closed tube has only odd multiples.Real-World Applications: Resonance in Everyday SystemsResonance occurs in many different systems, including strings, air columns, and atoms. Resonance is the driven or forced oscillation of a system at its natural frequency. At resonance, energy is transferred rapidly to the oscillating system, and the amplitude of its oscillations grows until the system can no longer be described by Hooke’s law. An example of this is the distorted sound intentionally produced in certain types of rock music.Figure 12. IntroductionCavity resonance occurs when waves, such as sound waves or electromagnetic waves, are confined within a specific cavity or resonator and resonate at specific frequencies. This phenomenon is essential in the design of musical instruments, microwave ovens, lasers, and many other devices where resonance enhances performance.Formula:The Cavity Resonance Formula calculates the resonant frequency (res) of a cavity or resonator. The formula is different for different types of cavities, such as acoustic or electromagnetic cavities. Here are the basic formulas:Acoustic Cavity Resonance:For acoustic cavities, like the air inside a musical instrument or a pipe, the resonant frequency (res) can be calculated using:Where:res is the resonant frequency (in hertz, Hz). is the speed of sound in the medium (typically air) in meters per second (m/s). is the length of the cavity or resonator (in meters, m).Electromagnetic Cavity Resonance:For electromagnetic cavities, such as those in microwave ovens or laser devices, the resonant frequency (res) can be calculated using:Where:res is the resonant frequency (in hertz, Hz). is the speed of light in a vacuum (approximately 3×108 meters per second, m/s). is the mode number, which depends on the specific mode of resonance. is the length of the cavity or resonator (in meters, m).The formula for electromagnetic cavity resonance includes the mode number (), which represents the specific mode of resonance (e.g., fundamental mode, first harmonic, second harmonic). How to Use?To effectively use the Cavity Resonance Formula to calculate resonant frequencies, follow these steps:Identify the Cavity Type: Determine whether you are dealing with an acoustic cavity (e.g., musical instrument) or an electromagnetic cavity (e.g., microwave oven).Gather Data: Collect the necessary data, such as the speed of sound ( for acoustic) or the speed of light ( for electromagnetic), and the length of the cavity ().Determine Mode Number (Electromagnetic Only): If you are working with an electromagneticResonance of the Ocean - SteamDB

For best performance, the tonearm and cartridge should be matched. All cartridges will not work with all tonearms, and vice versa. To insure a proper match, one must be aware of the mechanical specifications of both the arm and phono cartridge. To see how these characteristics interact and determine compatibility, let's explore the dynamics of the relationship.Any cartridge/tonearm combination will exhibit resonance at a specific frequency (or frequencies). This resonance is due to the interaction of the cartridge (acting as a spring), and the weight of the arm (acting as a mass). The "springiness" of the phono cartridge is described as compliance, the weight of the arm is specified in mass. As an example, a heavy weight on a light spring would obviously over-flex the spring, conversely, a light weight on a strong spring would not allow sufficient flexion. At resonance, the arm/cartridge combination produces a dramatic rise in output. An increase of 3 to 6dB or more is common. This tremendous boost can cause severe problems if it occurs in the region of recorded music (above 20Hz), or in the area where record warps and rumble are problematic (below 5Hz). A cartridge/arm whose resonance occurs in the region above 20Hz can be influenced by music on the record. At this frequency a significant jump in output (resulting in a "bloated" or "tubby" sound) will be experienced. In extreme cases, the stylus may actually jump out of the groove. Similarly, a cartridge/arm combination that exhibits a resonance below the desired range will exaggerate the effects of record warps, or rumble produced by the turntable. The goal in matching a specific cartridge and arm is to achieve a resonance in the 10 to 14Hz range. Some feel that limiting this range even further, to 9 to 11hZ, is best. For those of youComments
