/Library/Application Support folder6. You are ready to use iMovie HD Aug 9, 2011 10:41 AM in response to stephenhamm I tested iMovie HD on a Quad Intel tower running Lion, the Slick Plug-ins did not work. Hope that helps.Oro Valley Dude Aug 9, 2011 3:17 PM in response to stephenhamm Just to clarify, iMovie HD DID run on Lion, with no trouble; but the Slick Plug-ins did not load.Oro Valley Dude Aug 24, 2011 11:36 AM in response to stephenhamm We've done a little bit of testing under Lion, and almost all of the Slick plugins appear to work. The one exception being the stabilizer in volume 8. But the other plug-ins appear to be working fine. Our installers are not Lion compatible, so you will need to install on a non-Lion machine first. Then copy the plug-ins from the User/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins folder to a USB key, and then install in the same location on your Lion system. One tricky part to manually install in Lion is that the User/Library folder is hidden. To show this folder hold the option key when selecting the Go menu and the Library folder will appear.Hope this info helps. If you need further assistance, please contact [email protected] - the Slick software guys Aug 25, 2011 5:20 AM in response to BruceGee Good work Bruce! It's great to hear that the Slick plug-ins (other than Stabilizer) work in Lion. I've not upgraded from Snow Leopard yet and don't use iMovie HD 6 much nowadays, but it's comforting to know that things will still work under Lion. I have all Volumes (1 - 10) of Slick and can highly recommend them.Slick is the thing I miss the most now that I'm mainly using iMovie '11. I was using iMovie HD 6 the other day to review an older (wedding) project, and was once again very impressed with the titles, transitions and effects I had used from Slick. Thank you for a great product!John Aug 30, 2011 5:34 AM in response to stephenhamm This gives me a reason to not upgrade to Lion. I've come to the conclusion that I haven't liked the limitations of iMovie '11 and now will be buying Slick plugins to give '06 the capabilities that I'll never have in '11. I've looked at them for years but always wanted to give Apple the benefit of the doubt to regain its sanity and allow plugins.

Oh well. Aug 30, 2011 8:59 AM in response to Vegasrenie Like I think I said earlier, by using plugins you can have most of the capabilities if Final Cut (more when it comes to picture correction) while keeping the simplicity of iMovie HD. I think Apple realized this too and took that ability away trying to force us into Final Cut. We have apparently dodged a bullet with Lion but it is only a matter of time..... Aug 30, 2011 1:26 PM in response to stephenhamm As long as it works smoothly in Snow Leopard, I'll just keep it and the plugins and forget about Lion for as long as I can. I don't want to spend the $$$ for Final Cut because it's much more than I need, and a bigger learning curve than I have time for. Being able to do a quick and dirty little video is great, and with the plugins I can make it different for different people. It's too bad that iMovie '11's limited transitions, etc., makes it so unappealing.

Since its release in 2011, Apple’s Final Cut Pro X has divided users’ opinions over the updates. The wholesale changes to workflow, basic editing, and early compatibility issues forced many professional editors and hobbyists alike to seek a Final Cut Pro alternative. In the years since, however, Final Cut Pro has begun to re-establish itself, thanks to many improvements, new features, and a loyal user base of happy fans. For some, there are still issues and considerations for something different remains. Perhaps the flat purchase price of Final Cut Pro is a preventative cost barrier, or the magnetic timeline doesn’t suit preferred working styles and editing habits. Maybe you plan to move away from a Mac system and need a PC compatible program. It could be that you simply want to try something new, to freshen-up your work in a new environment. Today, we’re going to look at 12 alternatives to Final Cut Pro, covering both free and paid-for applications. Versions are available for free, but can often be upgraded with more features via a fee or subscription model. 1. iMovie iMovie is Apple’s entry-level video editing tool. It comes preinstalled on every Mac and even has a free mobile iOS version available. iMovie shares many similar attributes with FCPX, including the basic workflow, interface appearance, and editing tools. Mostly, the two programs share the same DNA, and for Mac editors who don’t require advanced controls like keyframing, multiple content channels, or multicam functionality, iMovie is a reliable option. iMovie is free with every Mac and has an identical look and feel to FCP. It’s incredibly stable due to the Native macOS integration. On the downside, the program is limited in the number of tracks and motion graphic options, and there is no multicam editing function. Pros:Free with every Mac.Comparable user interface and usability as FCPX.Native macOS integration for stability and performance.Cons:Limited number of tracks. No multicam editing.Limited motion graphic options. No third-party plugins available.Best for:Mac users who want a familiar working environment, but don’t require advanced, professional editing and compositing tools. 2. DaVinci ResolveFor a long time, DaVinci Resolve was mostly just a color grading application, with limited use for offline editors. In recent times, Blackmagic Design has sought to disrupt
