Gimp tablet lag
Author: W | 2025-04-25
I'm using Windows 8.1 64 bit and a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. When I select a tool with the tablet, the tool selected lags behind the cursor. The small black arrows on the rulers also lag. I noticed when recording the bug that the lag is gone when I make Gimp's window smaller (the lag is proportional to the window size it seems).

Tablet not working properly I have a Huion H420 tablet. I've installed the drivers, and the tablet shows up in the devices. I've put the mode on "screen" and changed the pressure to "3", but when I go to draw, there are no lines. If I press down with the pen, there'll be a dot, but only a dot and no line. On other programs the tablet and pen work perfectly with pressure and everything. It just doesn't seem to be working on GIMP. Help? If I can't make this work, I'm going to have to find a way to convert ALL my work to a different program, and I really don't want to do that. While trying to draw two persistent problems have continued to appear for me:1) I can't get pressure sensitivity to work on Gimp. I have my tablet on screen mode on input devices and also have used the basic dynamic brush and my own personal brush with the settings set on Opacity/Pressure and Size/Pressure, but still see no changes to the brush when I apply pressure in my tablet.2) Sometimes while I'm in the middle of drawing Gimp decides to take my inputs from tablet as "left clicks", I don't really have any idea as to how to solve this problem and don't know as to what is the cause. Mon Aug 06, 2018 8:32 am First thing to test is if the tablet works correctly outside of GIMP. I don't use Windows myself, but if your tablet came with a CD maybe there is a testing utility there you can use just to make sure it reports events correctly. It sounds like you have configered GIMP's input settings. Just to check - you should have the "stylus" device assigned ("eraser" works too, and can be put to any other tool, not just the eraser). Make sure you have the latest Wacom drivers installed too. Pressing your pen to the surface should indeed be equivalent to a "Left click" so not sure what you mean there. No input should happen with the pen tip completely lifted off the tablet, if you get "spurious lines" in the process of lifting the pen, you need to adjust your pressure curve (but since pressure is not working that seems unlikely). .Griatch Mon AugBrush lag on a drawing tablet? : r/GIMP - Reddit

I've done that though and it still isn't working. I downloaded a few other art programs and it's not working on those either. I guess it's something to do with the tablet, not GIMP, so I messaged Huion and hopefully they can help me out and not let my money be wasted on a tablet that doesn't work -_- Tablet not working properly I just wanted to leave an update in case anyone else is still having this problem.I emailed Huion support and here's the instructions they sent me:Here's a step by step to reinstall, please try and see if it works(If you are using Mac system, please skip 3-4 steps):1. Log out the Huion driver, close all drawing programs you are running, close your anti virus software.2. Uninstall the Huion driver from control panel.3. Find the "TabletDriver" folder from C:\Program files\ and delete it. (If you are not able to find this folder, that means you have deleted it already, and you may skip this step.)4. Go to C:\windows\system32 or C:\windows\system64, find "wintab32.dll" and delete it.5. Unplug the USB cable.6. Download driver from Huion website ( and install it as an Administrator.7. Reboot the computer and wait until it finishes rebooting.8. Plug the tablet back in.I had a few issues with their instructions. The wintab32.dll file was actually in C:\windows\sysWOW64. That was the first thing. Also, the file wouldn't delete because it was open in Malwarebytes Tray Application. I couldn't for the life
