After completing the studies on Printing Technology at London College of Printing (UK) in 1974 I rendered my services in the USA for a long period of time. I was then appointed the Vice Chairman of INGRIN Institute of Printing & Graphics which was established in 1997, to bridge the skills mismatch by offering training programs to impart knowledge on new technological developments to Sri Lanka’s printing, packaging and advertising industries. The main strength of the Institute was the technical support received from The INGRIN Foundation of the Netherlands. During the first year of operation, the Institute conducted only 11 training courses with the participation of only 165 candidates. The Institute maintained an impressive track has record by increasing the number of courses as well as the number of candidates who participated in the courses over the years. The number of candidates trained by the Institute has been increased from 165 in 1998 to 1259 by 2006. The note worthy feature is that in addition to increasing the number of candidates, the Institute introduced a large number of new courses to prepare personnel in the printing industry to meet the challenges of the rapid technological changes and developments in the global market. The Institute, which offered only 11 courses in 1998, now offers 21 regular training courses. The Institute has been operating as a non-profit service oriented organization since its inception. It charged very nominal course fees with a view to encouraging better participation from small scale printing establishments and unemployed youth interested in pursuing careers in the printing industry. Extending training facilities to other countries in the region we have been able to provide training to a number of overseas students in the year 2005, and a few more students have confirmed their enrollment and hope to arrive in Sri Lanka by the end of this year. As we have been able to start Higher Diploma courses jointly with the National Institute Of Business Management, the students who seek to upgrade their knowledge will now have a chance to acquire that through these courses and will be able to enter Foreign Universities to follow degree programs. Furthermore we have been able to award a large number of scholarships to students who were unable to afford fee levying courses, with the support of Printers, Suppliers of Printing Material and well wishers who have been lending a helping hand throughout the past 10 years. I The intention of our Organization is to expand the services of this nature to other main cities such as Kandy and Kurunegala before the end of 2008.Comments

You may feel like a European language is hard to learn, but classification has to be made by experts. The Foreign Service Institute of the US Government in this case. What recommends them? The FSI has some 800 language learning courses in 70 languages with over 70 years of experience in instructing US diplomats and foreign affairs employees to learn languages.According to them, the hardest European languages to learn are:FinnishIcelandicHungarianPolishCroatianTurkishGreekEstonianLatvianBulgarianUkrainianRussianSlovakThe FSI classifies all these European languages as tier 4 out of 5 – with 5 being the highest difficulty level. A native English speaker would need 1100 hours or 44 weeks of study to achieve fluency in one of these European languages.Surprisingly, German didn’t make this list as it is easier to learn than all these languages. Being at tier 2, German only requires 750 hours or 30 weeks of study for fluency.English and Beyond: Languages Spoken in European CountriesWhether we’re talking about Indo-European languages or not, here are all the languages of Europe and where they are spoken:Languages of Europe LanguageCountries where spoken AlbanianAlbania, Kosovo, North Macedonia BasqueSpain, France BelarusianBelarus BosnianBosnia and Herzegovina BretonFrance BulgarianBulgaria CatalanSpain, Andorra CroatianCroatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina CzechCzech Republic DanishDenmark DutchNetherlands, Belgium, Suriname EnglishUnited Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Gibraltar, Cyprus EstonianEstonia FinnishFinland FrenchFrance, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Luxembourg, Monaco GalicianSpain GermanGermany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein GreekGreece, Cyprus HungarianHungary IcelandicIceland IrishIreland ItalianItaly, Switzerland, San Marino, Vatican City LatvianLatvia LithuanianLithuania MacedonianNorth Macedonia MalteseMalta NorwegianNorway PolishPoland PortuguesePortugal,
2025-04-22When you receive the results of a foreign language test conducted by ICA Language Services, you have our word that it completely and accurately represents an individual’s language proficiency. For more than 20 years, our highly-educated test examiners and native-speaking testers have tested professionals for leading government agencies and corporations in more than 82 languages. 2025-04-17If you don’t sign up for live Spanish lessons, make sure you get speaking practice – whether it’s with a Spanish-speaking friend or neighbor, or with native Spanish speakers on Busuu. 2. Is Spanish easy to learn? Yes! Spanish is one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn. While any language requires hard work to master, our language experts sat down and looked at spelling, pronunciation, and grammar and found Spanish to be the easiest option for beginners. 3. How long does it take to become fluent in Spanish? While individual learning curves may vary, the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) has gathered data and found that relatively easy languages like Spanish take around 480 hours of study to reach basic fluency. That said, how long it’ll take you to get where you want to be really depends on what your goals are and how much time you can set aside for studying Spanish. On Busuu, we use a tool called Study Plan tailored to our courses that lets you input your goal and a date to have reached that goal, helps you figure out how often you need to study and for how long to reasonably reach that goal. 4. What level of Spanish is fluent? Fluency is sort of a subjective thing. In a literal sense, it means that you can speak fluidly, without needing to stop to translate things in your mind. There are different degrees of proficiency (which roughly means accuracy) and fluency (your ability to write, speak, and think in the language without straining). We measure proficiency and fluency by Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels, starting with Beginner A1. The Busuu Spanish course goes up to the C1 level, at which point the learner should be able to speak fluently and without significant hesitation or repetition. They should also be able to form well-structured arguments and understand conversations about more complex topics, like religion and politics.
