Digitized as an inverted NEF file. However, for conventional jpg scans, it's not the end of the world. That being said, the 46 megapixel files is somewhat of an overkill, given the mediocre color rendering. But in terms of a digital workflow, it is simple, straightforward, and quick.Personally, if I had to choose between the ES-2 and the Plustek, I'd choose the ES-2. At least with the ES-2, I don't have to bother negotiating with either Silverfast or Vuescan. But if the practical consideration of initial investment is material, then the Plustek is a more reasonable choice. Optimization in post have been mentioned under each caption. All images are cropped in some way through the scanning process. Also worth noting are noticeable inconsistencies in cropping. I only had a limited amount of time before my flight, so I was rushing. Basically, I was scanning on all four devices at the same time. The title image was shot on a Leica M10. This after all was suppose to be a blog post about the Canon EF-M. I will write more about that on a later date.Addendum (Tuesday, March 5th, 2019)Commentor Richard Golonka has directed me to a piece of software that may very well tip the balance to the NEF ES-2 method of negative digitalization. He recommended the Lightroom Plug-in Negative Lab Pro. I’m currently using the trial version. But it does appear to be promising. I will update this blog entry later, or perhaps I will write a new post. Attached below is a sample of Negative Lab Pro at work.. 2025-04-08Then enough yo spread the heat of the controller and do its job, its just really unfortunate that neither the manufacturers themselves nor the reviewers of these products, educate their customers/audience on this best practice. Obviously I would not just let me, some random internet commentor dictate this to you and take it as fact, I would encourage you to go out and look this up yourself, The aforemention Allyn is a great place to start, although he is no longer reviewing drives, there is plenty of archived content on the PC Perspective Website that he did these reviews for, that can educate you on this, and why it's important to allow Nand to operate at its hotter temps. The PCIe 4 drives do get even hotter than 3.0 drives, and these controllers really do throttle hard if you do not keep them under around 75c durint those longer storage workloads, but I know for a fact, that sinked properly, the Asus C8H Included M.2 Heat "sink" is enough to keep the temperature below throttle territory, assuming you have a room ambient that does not exceed 30c, a Case Temperature that does not exceed 45c, and decent airflow in the case that travels over the anemic "heatsinks", provided you sink just the contoller to the Heatsink on top, and the entire bottom sinked to the mobo, which is how I do my testing on this very topic. (My company provides the systems/maintenance for specialized fields so its my job to test
