If you haven't already got Confluence up and running, carry out the following steps: You may want to watch the video showing how to do this. Go to the Atlassian Download Center. Click 'Show all' and download the Confluence Standalone Windows Installer (.EXE) file. If you are upgrading Confluence, please download the ZIP archive instead of the Standalone Installer. Install Java and set JAVA_HOME. Run the Windows Installer .EXE file, choose an installation directory, a home directory, and a port ('8080' will do). We recommend that you choose to 'Run Confluence as a service'. Confluence will start automatically when the Installer finishes, if you selected the option to launch Confluence at the end of the Installer. To access Confluence, go to your web browser and type this address: Windows 'Start' menu shortcuts will also be added which you can also use to start and stop Confluence. Follow the Setup Wizard. Before using Confluence as a production system, you need to switch from the default HSQL database, which is provided for evaluation purposes only. A trial license gives you access to a full instance of Confluence Data Center for 30 days. At the end of the trial period your Confluence Data Center site will become read-only and you’ll have the option to buy a full license to continue using it, so you won’t lose any of your projects or data.We support single-node Confluence Data Center both for trial and full license instances, so you don’t have to modify your current number of application nodes if you don’t want to scale up to a cluster yet.To create a Confluence Data Center trial license:Head to my.atlassian.com and log in with your Atlassian ID.From the list of Atlassian products, select Confluence, then select the Data Center option and fill out the form with your organization’s information.Select Generate license.If you're ready to scale up your instance, check out how to Migrate from Server to Data Center.If you’re a new customer, the next step is to download and set up your new Confluence Data Center trial instance.

First-time Confluence users are often caught out by what, in theory, should be a straightforward function to perform: deleting a page. There's no obvious ‘delete’ button on the navigation bar or anywhere on the page - so how do you delete a page in Confluence? Click the icon with the three dots at the top right of the pageClock ‘Delete’ from the dropdown listA popup will give you any relevant warnings (such as about child pages) and ask if you want to send the page to the trash. Click ‘Delete’ againThe Confluence page will then be moved to your space’s trash. This means it won’t be permanently deleted and can be restored from the space administration’s trash. Child pages of the removed page won’t be deleted - instead, they’ll move up to the nearest parent page.Tip: Space permissions and page restrictions can prevent users from removing pages and content. If you don’t see the “delete” function for a particular page, contact your administrator to find out why.Tip: If a Confluence page is unpublished or in draft state, deleting it will be permanent. If you have permission, click ‘Space settings’ on your Confluence sidebar, then navigate to the ‘Manage pages’ card and click ‘Trash’. You can then choose to purge a specific page or purge all your deleted pages.
