Clear all of my history in Safari. Each day has 1-5 random sites that remain after I do a total "clear history." Anyone have a similar problem and solution? 4396 7 Clearing History and Website Data in Safari in Settings I click on Clear History and Website Data in Safari (in Settings), confirm with the second click and Clear History and Website Data is no longer highlighted. I exit Safari (in Settings) and immediately re-enter Safari (in Settings) doing absolutely nothing else and Clear History and Website Data is again highlighted (indicating that there is something there again that can be cleared). Is this normal? Thanks. 1779 2 Unable to remove cookies and clear browser data I can't seem to clear my browsing history or clear my cookies. The Clear History button at the bottom of the history drop down menu is greyed out and doesn't work. Neither does the Private Window option. I know that Screen Time can cause this but I DO have Unrestricted access checked though I have other Content and Privacy restrictions turned on. I have this problem on BOTH my devices (iPhone and MacBook) which suggests a problem with my settings or a bug in the system. In Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy -> Manage website data I have over two hundred cookies of websites and when I click Remove all -> Remove now, it looks like I clicked the button (the 'are you sure' pop up disappears) but none of the sites disappear from the list and are still there when I look again five minutes later. I'm not sure whether this is related to being unable to clear browser history or not.I've had this problem for several months now. I'm running Safari 13.1 and I'd like to know how to fix this or if there are alternative ways to clear cookies and history. Thanks! 794 3 Safari says I’m about to clear more tabs than I am aware of having open when I clear history and website data

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. Safari says I’m about to clear more tabs than I am aware of having open when I clear history and website data I have noticed since iPadOS 17 that when I clear history and website data it gives a timeframe option and a clear tabs option along with telling me how many tabs will be closed before it clears. The number of tabs it says it will close is always more than the number of tabs I am aware of having open. Right now, for instance, I am aware of having just this one tab open as I write this, but I can go to clear history and website in settings, as I just did, it says “This will close your 2 tabs.” Prior to my recent clear I had 1 tab open, that I was aware of, and it said it was going to close 9 tabs. I have no idea where they could be. 1 may have been a private tab, but it would be 1 maximum. How could I have 9 tabs open that I am unaware of? Where can they be? How can I access them? Is anyone else using tabs on my account? Am I part of a bot-net somehow? Does anyone at Apple have answers? Because no matter how many times I clear history, anytime I open safari and go to a single site it says I have two tabs open if I go to clear it again. iPad Pro, iPadOS 17 Posted on Jan 20, 2024 5:38 PM Posted on Jan 20, 2024 7:25 PM I don’t have other tab groups or private tabs open. I cleared my history and had it clear all tabs, then opened safari, went to one site, went back into settings and went to clear history again and it says it’s going to clear 2 tabs. I want to know where this second tab is. Is it a glitch? Is safari opening a hidden tab somewhere else that I can’t access? Is my iPad cloned somehow and everything I do opens up on someone else’s machine? It’s freaky to see and just makes me feel like my iPad is not secure! I don’t know if you’ve tried it on your iPad but go to clear your history and website data and when that window pops up for timeframe and tabs see how many tabs it’s saying you’re about to close and see if that matches up to how many you think you have open. Similar questions Can't clear all history in Safari Over the past week I've been unable to. Select Clear search history. Confirm the action. Clear My History - Bitmoji Support

Had a call with Apple Support in Feb of 2022. Verified that there is no way to delete the persistent legacy "My Places" with the usual right-click & delete. Then verified that iCloud Sync was enabled for Maps on all my devices (iPhone 13 Max Pro, iPad Mini 6 and MacBook Pro). Verified that all devices were running the latest OS. Tried a number of minor things that made no difference.I had already cleared Significant Locations history on my iPhone and iPad, but had not done that on my MacBook Pro. When I did that on my MacBook followed with shutting down and restarting Maps, after approximately 2-3 minutes the single legacy location under "My Places" disappeared, and so did the "My Places" guide! The Apple technician seemed just as surprised as I was when we noticed "My Places" was gone. :-)Recap: The trick seems to be to clear history on "Significant Locations" on ALL your devices. On iOS devices, go to Settings / Privacy / Location Services / System Services / Significant Locations and touch "Clear History". On macOS, go to Settings / Security & Privacy / Privacy tab / System Services (Details...) / Significant Locations (Details...) and click the "..." inside the small circle in the lower right corner of the left side of the "Recent Records" display (a map will appear on the right side of that display). Click "Clear History" to wipe out all Significant Locations from the Mac.You may need to wait a few minutes for these changes to sync across all devices and iCloud, but this process has worked twice for me this year.
