When it comes to splitting up a workout, there are a number of ways to get the job done, but fitness guru Jeff Cavaliere and Dr. Andrew Huberman believe results are what matter most. In a recent video, Cavaliere opened up about workout splits and how to produce results with different exercise programs.Jeff Cavaliere is a fitness guru with a wealth of knowledge and routinely shares proper lifting techniques and workout regimens on social media. He plays a major role at ATHLEAN-X, a fitness workout company that promotes active and healthy living.Exercising can be as nuanced as someone makes it, and Cavaliere believes anyone can achieve results regardless of their workout plan. Nowadays, bodybuilders and fitness influencers alike train using workout splits. Dr. Andrew Huberman joined Cavaliere for a candid discussion centered around these various methods. As a successful neuroscientist, Huberman brings a unique perspective to any fitness dialogue. Training or workout splits refer to the way in which someone approaches different muscle groups during exercise over a period of time. These methods vary greatly, and many people divide their workouts based on the day of the week or by the body part. Oftentimes, people try to hit a single muscle group at once, though there are plenty of circumstances when athletes decide to group-specific muscles together in order to condense a workout routine. V-Cut Abs From HomeHow to Use This in Practice?I know what you’re thinking: this is all fascinating but how can it be used in a practical way?The answer is simple: take your average lower ab movement like a v-sit ups or leg raises and then just squeeze a football or something else between your knees at the same time.Better yet, make that a medicine ball and you’ll also be adding more resistance into the move at the same time.Of course this also works excellently with hanging leg raises and other moves involving a pull up bar. When you try it, you’ll be able to actually feel the difference as you generate a much stronger contraction. This is something that Jeff Cavaliere credits with giving him the incredible v-cut abs that he’s become rather famous for.If it works for him, then it’s definitely worth a try – so give it a go!Big & RippedAt bigandripped.com, we provide the most unbiased and trustworthy reviews of the most popular bodybuilding supplements available for cutting, bulking and strength. Andrew Huberman:Welcome to the Huberman Lab podcast, where we discuss science and science-based tools for everyday life.Andrew Huberman:I'm Andrew Huberman and I'm a professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford School of Medicine. Today my guest is Jeff Cavaliere. Jeff Cavaliere holds a master of science in physical therapy and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He did his training at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, one of the top five programs in the world in physical therapy and sports medicine. I discovered Jeff Cavaliere over 10 years ago from his online content. His online content includes information about how to train for strength; how to train for hypertrophy, which is muscle growth; how to train for endurance; as well as how to rehabilitate injuries to avoid muscular imbalances; nutrition; and supplementation. I've always found his content to be incredibly science-based, incredibly clear, sometimes surprising, and always incredibly actionable. It is therefore not surprising that he has one of the largest online platforms for fitness, nutrition, supplementation, and injury rehabilitation.Andrew Huberman:Jeff has also worked with an enormous number of professional athletes and has served as head physical therapist and assistant strength coach for the New York Mets. Again, the content that Jeff Cavaliere has posted online has been so immensely useful to me over the years that I was absolutely thrilled to get the chance to sit down with him and ask him about everything from how to train in terms of how to split up the body partsJeff Cavaliere Soundboard for Android - Free App Download
Andrew discussed workout splits at length and what methods work the best for building muscle.“For me, the first rule is, will you stick to it? Right, because I don’t particularly like full body splits. I don’t necessarily like to have to train everything. Now, of course the volumes will come down per muscle group but if you don’t like to do that and you actually don’t look forward to your workout because you’re dreading having to do everything and feeling too maybe fatigued by the time the workout is over, or the fact that those generally do take a little longer and don’t fit into your schedule.” Jeff Cavaliere told Dr. Andrew Huberman.According to Jeff Cavaliere and Huberman, there are rules that govern workout splits. Whether someone uses a workout split based on body parts or based on the day of the week, what’s most important is actually completing the exercises. “I don’t care how effective the split is, a split not done is not effective. So, you need to find one that fits. Maybe you go into an alternative option like a push, pull, legs like you mentioned. That could be done maybe one cycle through the week, a Monday, Wednesday, Friday split or it could be twice in a week, so you’re actually training six times where you repeat it. Push, pull, legs, however you want to do it.”Cavaliere explained that sometimes splits are divided into specific movements or parts, like pushing, pulling, and legs (PPL split). Very rapidly, and a good number of them that we've talked about, some of the more prominent ones for sleep and focus and other aspects of mental and physical health, are already there. Again, you can find them at livemomentous.com/Huberman.Andrew Huberman:Before we begin, I'd like to emphasize that this podcast is separate from my teaching and research roles at Stanford. It is, however, part of my desire and effort to bring zero-cost-to-consumer information about science and science-related tools to the general public. In keeping with that theme, I'd like to thank the sponsors of today's podcast.Andrew Huberman:And now for my discussion with Jeff Cavaliere. Jeff, such a pleasure for me to have you here.Jeff Cavaliere:I'm glad to be here. It's amazing.Andrew Huberman:I'm a longtime consumer of your content. I've learned a tremendous amount about fitness, both in the weight room, cardio, nutrition, things that I've applied for over a decade. So for me, this is particularly meaningful, and my goal here is really to ask a bunch of questions to which I'm interested in the answers, but also for which I know the audience is really curious about.Andrew Huberman:So one of your mantras is, "If you want to look like an athlete, train like an athlete," and I think that's something really special that sets aside what you do from what a lot of other very well-qualified people do. And in terms of the use of weights and resistance, whether or not it's body weight or weights in the gym. Jeff Cavaliere Soundboard 1.0 APK download for Android.
